Yanga begins strong in Africa

Young Africans made their debut in the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League on Friday with a few games played throughout the continent.

At the Estadio 11 de Novembro, Young Africans defeated Wiliete 3-0 in the first leg of the qualifying round, giving them a great start to their CAF Champions League campaign.

Aziz Andabwile’s goal in the 32nd minute gave Yanga the lead going into halftime, and goals from Prince Dube (81′) and Edmund John (72′) in the second half completed the victory in Luanda.

Al Ahli Tripoli played to a 0-0 draw with Dadje at the Stade de Kegue in Lome in their first appearance in Africa’s top club competition since 2017.

The Libyan Premier League champions will be hoping to win in Tripoli in order to advance to the second qualifying round for just the third time in their history.

At the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Al Ittihad Tripoli shared the spoils with Wolaitta Dicha in a 0-0 draw, preserving their prospects of winning the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2022–23 quarterfinalists will be looking to use home advantage in the second leg in Tripoli after failing to get past the first qualifying round in their last six games.
