Isak could make his debut for Liverpool against Atletico

Alexander Isak, the British record acquisition for Liverpool, will be part of the team when they play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League opener, manager Arne Slot announced on Tuesday.

Fans may be excited to watch the Swedish striker play at Anfield, but Slot made an effort to downplay their expectations.

Slot told reporters on Tuesday that there was “definitely a chance because he’s in the squad.” “I’m positive he won’t play for ninety minutes. However, he is a member of the team.

Slot claimed that Isak was still not totally healthy, thus he was kept out of the squad for Sunday’s 1-0 victory at Burnley. Isak signed joined Newcastle United on deadline day for 125 million pounds ($169.5 million).

“(His biggest challenge is) getting fit after missing out four months and of proper team sessions,” Slot stated. “He doesn’t have to prove to anyone that he’s good enough to play in the Premier League, because that’s what he’s proven already at Newcastle.”

Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, stated that Isak had adapted well to the Premier League winners.

“Very good impression, very eager,” stated the center defender. “Obviously, the quality he’s been showing already since the first session, only positives, and off the pitch as well, we’re having conversations – I spoke to him during the international break once everything was sorted.”

Van Dijk emphasized how crucial integration is.

“It’s now about getting him as fit as possible and to understand each one of us as quickly as possible, how we train, how we press, our set pieces,” he stated.

Prior to their defeat by Paris St. Germain in the round of 16, Liverpool will be hoping to build on their impressive league-phase performance from the previous season.

Julian Alvarez, the striker for Atletico, is out due to a knee injury.
