A US $60,000 prize is up for grabs at the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup D-Day

The CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025 will culminate today at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, marking the final curtain.

With the backing of Rwandan President Paul Kagame, the top three teams will compete for a total of US$60,000. Betika is the competition’s sponsor.

Al Hilal SC (Sudan) and Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania), two teams that have never won the regional trophy before, will face off in the play-off match for a bronze medal and US$10,000. APR FC (Rwanda) will play Tanzania Premier League team KMC FC.

Silver and US$20,000 will go to the runner-up, while the winners will receive US$30,000 and gold medals.

Singida Black Stars FC overcame KMC FC 2-0 at the tournament’s semi-final stage, which began with 12 teams, while Al Hilal SC eliminated APR FC 3-1 going into the final hurdle.

Coach Laurentiu Aureliant Reghecampf of Al Hilal SC has stated that his team is prepared to put in their best effort and attempt to win the title. “We are ready to work hard and succeed, and we are highly motivated. We are well-prepared for the CAF Champions League thanks to this final and the entire CECAFA Kagame Cup,” the coach of Al Hilal, whose squad is undefeated in the competition, continued.

Singida Black Stars FC head coach Miguel Gamondi, who has a lot of experience, has stated that this is not only a final but a memorable one because he recently joined the team. In order to prepare for the forthcoming season, I have had the chance to test players. We are taking the final very seriously, and we are aware of the type of team we will be up against. Gamondi went on, “My team is very ready.”

Simba SC (Tanzania) and AFC Leopards (Kenya) are the most successful teams, having won the CECAFA Kagame Cup a record six times each, while Al Hilal SC and Singida Black Stars FC will be vying for their maiden title. Tanzania’s Young Africans SC and Kenya’s Tusker FC have each won the regional championship five times.

For the first time, the CECAFA Kagame Cup will conclude with an awards gala. The teams, officials, and organizers will be hosted by sponsors Betika at the Awards Gala in the SuperDome in Masaki following the final.
