Al Hilal of Sudan will take on the Singida Black Stars in the Cecafa Game Cup final
Singida Black Stars FC and Sudan’s Al Hilal SC will square off in Monday’s CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025 final. At the semi-final stage on Saturday at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the two teams easily defeated their rivals.
Al Hilal SC exacted revenge on APR FC of Rwanda, who had defeated them in the same stage the previous year. While Singida Black Stars FC overcame KMC FC 2-0 in the second semi-final match, the Sudan Premier League champions stopped APR FC 3-1.
After forty minutes, APR FC took the lead thanks to a goal from Togui M. William, who scored his third of the competition. Al Hilal SC surged ahead and evened the score through Abdelrazig Taha with eight minutes remaining. Al Hilal scored two more goals through Nigerian forwards Ahmed Salem and Sunday Damilare as the match entered extra time.
Coach Laurentiu Aurelian Reghecampf of Al Hilal SC expressed his satisfaction with his team’s response in winning the game. The game against a formidable team was extremely difficult. But I’m grateful to my guys for putting in a lot of effort to win the game,” Reghecampf continued.
In order to go to the final, Singida Black Stars FC, who will play for Tanzania in the 2025–2026 CAF Confederation Cup, scored goals in each half of the second semifinal encounter.
New signer Clatous Chota Chama, a Zambian international, scored the team’s opening goal forty-five minutes into the game, and Ande Koffi added his name to the scoreboard sixty-four minutes later.
With 12 teams participating, the Betika-sponsored event got underway. The winners receive US$30,000 in cash and gold medals, the runner-up receives US$20,000 and silver medals, and the third-place finisher receives US$10,000 and bronze medals. The financial reward has been provided by Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda.
