The US wins another gold in the 4×400-meter mixed relay

The US easily won the 4x400m mixed relay for the third time in the event’s four world championships on Saturday. This was some revenge for the Netherlands, who beat them in the Olympics last year.

The event was first held in 2019 and the U.S. won. They won again in a big way in 2023 after only getting third place at home in Eugene in 2022.

But on Saturday, they came home well ahead, setting a new record for the championship with a time of 3:08:80. Victory was never in question.

Bryce Deadmon, who has two Olympic medals in this event, put them ahead early on. Lynna Irby-Jackson then kept them ahead until Jenoah McKiver sped up a 43.91-second third lap that left the rest of the pack far behind. Alexis Holmes was the one who crossed the line.

Femke Bol famously fell just meters from the finish line, giving the gold to the United States at the last worlds. She then swam another great anchor leg to help the Dutch win silver in 3:09.96.

Quickly ending Belgium won third place in 3:10.61, which was their first medal in this event around the world.

He also has two gold medals in the 4x400m men’s relay. “With those three guys behind me, I knew I was going to be fine,” Deadmon said.

“I told my team to believe in themselves.” They’ve been running 400s all year, and things would go as planned if they kept doing that.
