Kaizer Chiefs announce the signing of Khanyiza Mayo on a one-year loan

Khanyisa Mayo, who comes back to South Africa following a season with CR Belouizdad in Algeria, has signed a one-year loan with Kaizer Chiefs.

Son of Patrick Mayo, a legend of the Kaizer Chiefs, the 27-year-old forward is one of only a select few athletes whose fathers have worn the renowned Gold & Black jersey. Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung and Kaizer Motaung Jr., Eliakim and Doctor Khumalo, Joseph and Siphiwe Mkhonza, Fabian and Aden McCarthy, Ace Nkomo and Morgan Gould, as well as their father and son, are on this esteemed list.

Having played for South Africa at the U17 and U20 junior national levels, Mayo has earned seven caps for Bafana Bafana, the senior national side.

Before Khanyisa moved to Algeria, we intended to bring him to Naturena, and that’s no secret,” Kaizer Motaung Jr. stated. When we play in the league and on the continent this season, we think he will bring a lot of value to the team because of his track record in the league. By continuing their family’s legacy, he becomes one of the few athletes who have done so. Having him here makes us very pleased, and we wish him the best.

Early next week, the Eastern Cape-born striker, Chiefs’ eleventh addition this season, is anticipated to join his new teammates at the club’s Naturena headquarters.
