GFA denounces Christopher Antwi-Adjei’s racist abuse

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made a forceful statement in response to Christopher Antwi-Adjei’s racist taunts during Schalke 04’s German Cup match against FC Lokomotive Leipzig.

In a strong statement with the headline, “WE STAND WITH CHRISTOPHER ANTWI-ADJEI,” the GFA condemned the event as a disgrace to the game and conveyed their sorrow and support with the 30-year-old Ghanaian international.

When our brother, Christopher Antwi-Adjei, was the target of racist taunts during Schalke 04’s German Cup match against FC Lokomotive Leipzig, Ghana and the entire football community watched with sorrow. Racism is a sin. In football, it has no place. There is no place for it in society,” the statement said.

The GFA emphasized that Antwi-Adjei’s dignity and character were stronger than the ignorance he had to endure, and commended him for demonstrating fortitude in the face of hatred.

In the face of hatred, Christopher shown amazing fortitude, serving as a reminder to all of us that morality and integrity will always triumph over ignorance. The Ghana Football Association wholeheartedly supports him. We applaud his bravery and call for a game that respects all players regardless of their origin, race, or color.

Calling for international solidarity against racism, the Association reaffirmed its dedication to combating prejudice at all levels of the game.

“Cohesion is key in football. The theme of football is love. We are all fans of football. We must all speak out against racism. I agree with equality.

The GFA’s announcement coincides with proposals for harsher penalties against those who engage in racial insults and the outpouring of support from the football community.
