Luka Doncic of the Lakers had an injury scare during a EuroBasket match
Luka Doncic, the star of the Los Angeles Lakers, seems to have escaped a catastrophic injury during Slovenia’s EuroBasket exhibition match against Latvia on Saturday, according to The Athletic.
A teammate pushed Doncic into his right leg, causing him to prefer it. The five-time All-NBA guard stayed on the floor for a few seconds before carefully making his way back to the locker room by himself.
However, Doncic quickly returned to the bench, allowing Lakers supporters to exhale with relief.
Earlier this month, Doncic signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension. After being acquired by the Lakers in a three-team transaction on February 2, he averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 28 games (all starts).
In 450 career games (all starts), Doncic, 26, is averaging 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists with the Lakers and Dallas Mavericks (2018–25).
