PSG’s thrilling two-goal comeback in the UEFA Super Cup saw them defeat Tottenham on penalties

The UEFA Super Cup was won by PSG on penalties after Tottenham wasted a two-goal advantage.

In an exciting match in the UEFA Super Cup, Tottenham Hotspur lost to Paris Saint-Germain by a score of two goals, and they were crushed on penalties.

Late in the first half, Spurs seized the lead when Lucas Chevalier, the new goalie for PSG, pushed Joao Palhinha’s shot onto the bar, and Micky van de Ven jumped on a rebound.

In his debut game as club captain, Cristian Romero extended the lead with a strong header shortly after the restart, but Mohammed Kudus nearly doubled the lead before the half by heading against the post.

PSG had a hard time bothering Guglielmo Vicario for the majority of the game since they were still recovering from their preseason slump after just one week of training. But Goncalo Ramos’ goal deep into stoppage time leveled the score after Kang-in Lee’s goal in the 85th minute gave the Champions League winners hope.

Spurs missed Van de Ven and Mathys Tel, and the game was decided on penalties. The Parisians then won thanks to a spectacular penalty kick from Nuno Mendes, depriving new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank of his first prize as manager.
