Leverkuen engaged in advanced negotiations to sign Ghanaian-Dutch talent Ernest Poku
Ernest Poku is a Ghanaian-Dutch winger who is being negotiated for a sum of approximately €10 million by Bayer Leverkusen and AZ Alkmaar.
Erik Ten Hag has taken notice of Poku, 20, who has dazzled in the Eredivisie with his quick speed and straightforward attacking approach. According to reports, Leverkusen believes he would be a great fit for a very offensive right wingback position that would mimic the dynamic presence of Jeremie Frimpong, who has since moved on to Liverpool.
According to people familiar with the matter, negotiations are going well, and both teams are hopeful that they will come to an agreement before the transfer window ends. Poku’s signing would give Leverkusen more choices before their Champions League campaign and domestic championship defense by adding depth, adaptability, and youthful enthusiasm.
Poku, who was born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, has played for the Dutch youth national teams but is still eligible to play for Ghana at the senior level. If his growth in Germany continues at a rapid pace, the Black Stars may be interested in him.
Poku would be the newest young player to join Ten Hag’s high-intensity Leverkusen team, which is quickly becoming known for fusing attacking flair with tactical discipline, if the deal is finalized.
