John Cena claims that his retirement from the WWE was influenced by his age

John Cena is leaving WWE because he is “not as strong and fast” as he used to be.

Later this year, the renowned wrestler, who is 48 years old, will end his career. He said that he wants to leave the sport before his fitness levels drop too much.

John told People magazine, “Age does play a part.” I used to be stronger and faster, but now I’m not. It became famous for me, so I promised that I would go even when I was a step slower. There will be kids just as hungry as me who deserve a chance to see if they can make it.

The 17-time WWE world champion said that his main goal right now is to spend time with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh.

“My health and my commitment to my partner are the tip of my spear right now,” Cena said. “So I think every time I go out (in the ring), I just want to make sure I can give my all, but it’s time to step away.”

The famous wrestler got a hair transplant in November 2024. He now wishes he had done it ten years earlier because fans kept pointing out that his hair was getting thinner, even though he tried hard to hide it.

“As I tried to hide my hair loss, the audience brought it to light,” John said.

“I saw their signs that said ‘The Bald John Cena.'” They pushed me to go find out what I could do. I now do the same things every day: red light treatment, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo, conditioner, and I had a hair transplant in November of last year.

“I really dislike that if I didn’t feel so bad about it, I would have done it 10 years ago.” Seven or eight out of ten guys have hair loss or thinning. I thought I was the only one.

When the subject of the hair transplant comes up, Cena says he gets really “fired up.”

“If someone is going to sweat me for that, I don’t think there’s any shame in that,” the Peacemaker star said. Everything in my life changed because of it.

As the end of John’s wrestling career approaches, he looks forward to the next part of his life with “curiosity.”

He said, “I want to stay interested and healthy in every way—physically, spiritually, and mentally.”

I think I’ll be okay as long as I have love, good health, and a desire to learn more about life.
