Onana tries to be healthy for the match against Arsenal
Andre Onana hopes to get over a hamstring problem in time to play for Manchester United against Arsenal on the first weekend of the 2025–26 season.
The Cameroon international missed United’s three pre-season games in the United States because he hurt himself in training last month. He still went with the team and worked on his fitness, though.
Ruben Amorim’s team won the 2025 Premier League Summer Series. Altay Bayindir played all 90 minutes against West Ham and Everton, while Tom Heaton got the start in goal against Bournemouth.
Since moving from Inter Milan to Manchester United in July 2023, Onana hasn’t won over the fans. In his first two seasons at Old Trafford, he kept just nine clean sheets and made some big mistakes.
But the goalie, who is 29 years old, says he feels “great” with less than two weeks to go until the new season starts. He also thinks the Red Devils are ready to forget about their disappointing season in 2024–25.
Onana told NBC Sports in Atlanta, “I’m fine, I feel great.” “These past few weeks have been tough, but I hope to be back for the start of the season.” It’s fun to train with my guys, and we’re all looking forward to it.
“We are together.” Our last season was hard, and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We know how to get there. It’s fun to train with other people. It’s important that we have fun. We will be hard to beat when we are together.
“Everything is going well for us.” We play well, score goals, and I’m proud of how the team is growing. Let’s check it out. It’s important to get off to a good start against Arsenal. After that, anything can happen.
