Christian Coleman stands by his girlfriend Sha’Carri Richardson following her arrest for domestic violence

Christian Coleman, Sha’Carri Richardson’s boyfriend, is standing up for the sprinter following her arrest for domestic abuse.

According to the police report that USA TODAY Sports was able to receive, the alleged incident took place at the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Coleman was the victim of the incident, according to the police.

Regarding Richardson’s arrest on Sunday, Coleman remarked, “I think it was a sucky situation all around.” “She shouldn’t have been arrested, in my opinion. I mean, people have conversations, feel things, and so forth. Naturally, there are things she needs to work on for herself. I, you, and everyone else feel the same way. However, I’m the kind of person who works to spread love, grace, and mercy.

After competing in the 100 and 200 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Championships, Coleman made this statement. He finished fifth in the 100 with a season-best time of 9.86, missing out on next month’s world championships. He ran a season-best 20.02 and finished sixth in the 200. He explained that the event at the airport had no bearing on him at the U.S. championships, even if he did not qualify.

Richardson and Coleman were flying together when they went through TSA security and got into a verbal fight, according to PEOPLE magazine. According to reports, an arresting officer saw Sha’Carri repeatedly push her partner, sending him tumbling into a column. According to reports, Coleman attempted to leave the altercation on camera, but she “kept bumping into him.” She allegedly tossed a set of headphones at him, according to the authorities.

Coleman “refused to press charges” and “declined to be a victim,” seemingly defending his partner even in the immediate aftermath of the confrontation. Nevertheless, on Sunday, July 27, Richardson was taken into custody and booked at the South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Washington. She was freed the next day, Monday, July 28, according to jail records.

According to USA TODAY, Coleman described Richardson as “a human being and a great person.” She is, in my opinion, the world’s top female athlete. I witness it daily.

USA Track and Field released a brief statement after her arrest stating, “USATF is aware of the reports.” According to PEOPLE, “We have no comment on this matter.”
