Tanzanian coach Suleiman is thrilled to have won against Burkina Faso in CHAN 2024
Hemed Suleiman Ali, the head coach of Tanzania, was overjoyed after his team easily defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in their opening 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.
Taifa Stars got off to a perfect start in front of their home crowd thanks to a penalty kick from Abdul Hamisi Suleiman in the first half and a clean finish from Mohamed Hussein Mohamed in the second. “I’m glad we scored two goals and gave up none. “We must build on this victory,” Suleiman stated following the match.
However, he voiced worries about his team’s lack of clinical skills in front of the goal. “I think we need to work on improving our scoring before the next game. Sure, we scored two, but they should have scored more.”
Both teams created chances as the game got off to a strong start. Burkina Faso goalie Ladji Sanou was put to the test early on by Tanzania’s Clement Mzize and Feisal Salum, while the visitors also had squandered opportunities from Souleymane Sangaré and Papus Ouattara.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and a number of Member Association Presidents also attended the inaugural game.
Tanzania’s next game is scheduled for August 4th against Mauritania. The second Group C encounter between Madagascar and Mauritania is scheduled on Sunday at Dar es Salaam’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
