Rahaman Ali, Muhammad Ali’s devoted brother and fellow combatant, passes away at the age of 82

Boxing’s Unsung Brother Died Calmly, With Family Honoring Him

The Muhammad Ali Center announced on Saturday that Rahaman Ali, the younger brother of the renowned boxer Muhammad Ali, had died at the age of 82.

The center said, “Rahaman was his brother’s biggest supporter,” adding that he passed away on Friday. Funeral arrangements have not been made public, and the circumstances surrounding his passing are still unknown.

Rahaman, like his older brother, trained as a professional boxer from 1964 to 1972. He paid tribute to Muhammad’s legacy outside of the ring by writing two books: “That’s Muhammad Ali’s Brother! “My Brother, Muhammad Ali – The Definitive Biography” in 2019 and “My Life on the Undercard” in 2014.

In addition to posting a heartfelt homage, Hana, Muhammad’s daughter, posted a selfie with her uncle, describing him as “a sweet, gentle soul with a heart as big as the world” and emphasizing the “extraordinary” link he had with her father.

Laila Ali posted, “My father loved his brother Rahaman so deeply,” reflecting on the family’s intense devotion. Now, their cherished parents are holding them once more. May they all rest together in eternal peace.

Respiratory issues caused Muhammad Ali’s death in 2016. Now, Rahaman, who has always been by his side, rests beside him.
