OL Bayron Matos of the Dolphins was evacuated to the hospital following a practice injury

Bayron Matos, an offensive lineman with the Miami Dolphins, was flown to a nearby hospital after suffering an unexplained injury late in the team’s first training camp practice.

According to the team, Matos, 24, is in stable condition.

Matos, who was born in the Dominican Republic, played a season of collegiate football at South Florida in 2022 before enrolling in the NFL International Player Pathway Program. Having never played organized football, he joined the team and had limited participation in two games.

He played basketball for New Mexico during his first year of college in 2020–21. The following season, he transferred to South Florida. He averaged 1.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game while playing in 28 games (four of which he started) for the Bulls.

Matos, who is 6′ 7″ and 334 pounds, joined Miami last year and was a member of the team’s practice squad for the 2024 season.
