Benny McCarthy: The CECAFA Four Nations Tournament is a good test for Kenya

Benni McCarthy, the head coach of Kenya’s national football team, has expressed his enthusiasm for the CECAFA 4-Nations Tournament, stating that it will serve as an excellent opportunity to evaluate his team.

“I am very pleased with the timing of this tournament as it will provide our players a solid foundation to continue their preparation for the CHAN tournament,” says McCarthy.

The CECAFA 4-Nations Tournament, featuring Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and guest team Senegal, is scheduled to take place from July 21 to 27 in Karatu, located in the Arusha region of Tanzania. The Harambee Stars, traveling to Tanzania this morning, will begin their campaign against the Uganda Cranes on Monday.

“This tournament serves as an excellent opportunity to assess our readiness for CHAN.” “We will encounter strong opponents, and this will clearly reveal what is effective and what requires improvement,” McCarthy added.

Following the CECAFA 4-Nations Tournament, the Kenyan team will return for a brief period before commencing their TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) challenge against former champions DR Congo on August 3rd at the Kasarani Stadium.
