Shannon Sharpe’s rape accuser’s lawyer speaks out regarding the settlement
Shannon Sharpe seems to be able to put this very contentious period of his life behind him.
According to the legal team of the former athlete who made the accusation, the plaintiff and defendant have struck a deal, and the case will move forward with an unchallenged dismissal.
An unnamed woman filed a lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe for alleged sexual assault between 2024 and 2025, sparking the entire circus.
Inside the Amicable Settlement Between Shannon Sharpe and His Accuser
The accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, posted on social media that the parties have come to an agreement that is advantageous to both of them.
He went on to say that after “prolonged and respectful negotiations” that resulted in a “mutually agreed upon resolution,” the civil complaint will now be dismissed without prejudice.
Sharpe called the accuser’s account release a few months ago a “shakedown,” something he intended to address in a defamation complaint.
“I am certain that my fans and family are fully aware of this. Like I always do, I’ll be out there telling you whatever I need to say. All of you are loved by me. According to TMZ, he said, “Thanks,” back in April.
According to reports, the former professional football player had an eight-figure sum on the table.
The Blast revealed in April that Sharpe made the anonymous lady an offer of $10 million to conceal the details of his sexual life, only days after he was slammed with the rape complaint.
The lady, who was eventually identified as Gabi Zuniga, accused the former athlete of repeatedly assaulting her. She also included an audio tape of Sharpe threatening her with her charges.
The $50 million Zuniga sought in the lawsuit was a far cry from the $10 million offered. By making it clear that his offer was not an admission of wrongdoing, Sharpe thought that it would enable them to reach an out-of-court settlement with his attorney, Lanny J. Davis.
According to lawyer Mitchell Schuster, Zuniga and Sharpe had been together for more than two years and their relationship was consensual. Schuster asserted that the extortionate demand in her lawsuit was the result of the accuser becoming vindictive when Shannon failed to conceive with her.
The Camp of Sharpe Was Slammed A Charge Against Gabi Zuniga
While it is common for well-known people to pay their accusers enormous sums of money to end a case, Schuster pointed out that Zuniga’s case is different.
He claimed that the accuser’s version of events was rife with malicious intent and hidden agendas. He went on to say that the false narrative Zuniga is spreading is harmful for actual victims of sexual assault and has negative optics.
“And while there are certainly real victims of sexual assault whose stories deserve to be told, Gabi is not one of them,” Schuster said.
In a prior Instagram post, Shannon also attacked Buzbee for taking on the case, saying that he would never back down from a chance to single out and disparage another prosperous Black man.
Nearly two decades ago, the 57-year-old fought another assault allegation.
Another purported victim of the former tight end came forward with a sexual assault charge linked to a defamation action after hearing Zunig’s account.
According to The Blast, Michele Evans, the plaintiff, filed the lawsuit, alleging that 15 years ago, the former football player mistreated and defamed her.
Subsequent research revealed that the case was filed in New York two years prior and that it bore a remarkable resemblance to another action against Sharpe in Nevada that was filed by an anonymous woman alleging rape.
Evans brought Sharpe to court for threatening to harm her reputation and jeopardize her career, but she had no intention of suing him for sexual assault.
According to reports, Evans and the media star dated for ten years before splitting up in 2010 over his alleged adultery.
