Preseason games between Simba SC and young Africans will take place in Kigali
Tanzanian champions Young Africans “Yanga” have confirmed that they will play Rayon Sports in a friendly game on August 15 at Amahoro Stadium.
The game is a part of the regular yearly “Rayon Sports Day” celebration, a unique event where the team highlights new players, partners, and uniforms for the upcoming season.
Additionally, the team will use the event to get ready for the upcoming Rwanda Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup seasons.
In the ‘Rayon Day’ festivities, Rayon Sports played a friendly match against Tanzania’s Azam FC before facing Yanga SC next.
Ally Kamwe, the spokesman for Yanga SC, revealed that Rayon Sports had sent an invitation to his team.
A club overhaul is in the works, so the team may fly to Kigali with new players while others will have been released. On Rayon Day, new players will also be revealed.
Football supporters will witness a “new Yanga,” Kamwe emphasized.
Our team will be led by a new coach for two weeks. We will use one word, I’ll tell our fans: It’s time to put ourselves to the test. We should try our new squad in this Rayon Sports vs. Yanga match,” Kamwe stated.
People, prepare yourself. We will embark on yet another arduous voyage. “Yanga SC will introduce its new team on August 15,” he said.
Ahead of the 2025–2026 football season, the Blues, who are celebrating their eighth consecutive Rayon Day, will use the match against the Tanzanians to test their new players and regain their playing rhythm.
Simba SC has been added to APR’s list of teams with whom they would like to play a friendly in advance of the upcoming season.
Before announcing which team they would play at Amahoro Stadium on August 2, the club is in negotiations with Simba, ASEC Mimosas, and Kaizer Chiefs.
Simba and Young Africans will both play for Tanzania in the CAF Champions League, similar to APR FC, the Rwandan champions. The CAF Confederation will be played by Rayon Sports.
