Everson Griffen, a former star for the Minnesota Vikings, was kicked off a Delta flight due to his disruptive behavior
The jet was forced to return to Chicago due to a mid-air disturbance produced by the former Vikings defensive end.
Everson Griffen, a former four-time Pro Bowl player, was taken off a Delta Air Lines flight on Wednesday, which led to an unexpected event. The 37-year-old former Viking had taken a plane to Minneapolis from Chicago O’Hare. The jet turned back minutes after departure, causing a delay while Griffen was removed off the aircraft by officials.
The pilots went back to the gate expressly “to have an unruly passenger removed,” according to a Delta representative. “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and will always work with law enforcement to that end,” the airline stressed. While expressing apologies for the inconvenience, the statement emphasized that “at Delta, safety and security come before everything else.”
It’s still unknown if Griffen was charged after the event. Griffen had already posted a sneak peek of his trip day on social media earlier that morning. He took a video of himself going to the airport and captioned it, saying, “We out Chicago!!!” and then, “It’s up,” adding, “it better be!!!”
Griffen played in the NFL from 2010 to 2021. He recorded a remarkable 85.5 sacks in 170 games played. Even though he was praised on the field, his reputation was damaged by what happened on Wednesday. The trip left both fans and other passengers wondering what precisely happened and whether Griffen’s exuberance had turned into something more serious.
There are currently no additional details available. We’ll keep an eye on things and provide an update as soon as we know more about the cause of the disruption and any repercussions for the former Minnesota star.
