Joy Taylor Leaves Fox Sports as FS1 Closes Several Programs
FS1 discontinues “Speak” and the morning program; Taylor leaves after almost a decade
During a period of significant changes at FS1, Joy Taylor is formally leaving Fox Sports, ending her almost ten-year tenure with the network. According to The Athletic, the network has announced a major programming shuffle by canceling her chat show “Speak” and its two morning shows.
The 38-year-old Taylor was a familiar figure on FS1, renowned for her astute analysis and adaptable hosting approach. However, Fox Sports decided not to extend her contract after it ended. She previously co-hosted “Speak” with NBA great Paul Pierce and former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson.
The action was taken while FS1 was being investigated for two lawsuits involving Charlie Dixon, the company’s former senior executive. In one lawsuit, Dixon was accused of sexual battery by a makeup artist who made the contentious assertion that Taylor had once advised the plaintiff to “get over it.” Taylor vehemently rejected the accusation. In April, Dixon departed from the network.
Although Fox Sports has not made any public statements on Taylor’s departure or the cancelled shows, insiders indicate the network is reorganizing its studio and daytime schedule. Although it’s unknown what the next stage of FS1’s programming will entail, the departure of Taylor and the elimination of three shows represent a definite turnaround.
Although Taylor has not yet disclosed her future course of action, industry observers predict that she won’t be out of commission for very long. Greater chances are probably already on the table given her reputation, adaptability, and sizable fan base.
Despite her absence at FS1, Taylor is still very much involved in the game. She has established a solid foundation with “The Herd” and “Speak,” and her upcoming book is anticipated to be even more significant.
