Axel Tuanzebe, a star in Congo, is suing Manchester United due to alleged negligent medical advice

Axel Tuanzebe, a former Manchester United defender, has filed a lawsuit against his old team, alleging that they provided faulty medical advice. The claim could be worth more than £1 million.

The case was submitted to the High Court last week by 27-year-old Tuanzebe, who joined Burnley of the Premier League earlier this month. The claim concerns an unknown injury that occurred starting in July 2022.

Tuanzebe, who was once praised as one of United’s best defensive players, captained the team at every level and played his final game for the Red Devils against Villarreal in the 2021 Europa League final. His time at Old Trafford ended on a bittersweet note as United lost 11–10 despite scoring in the thrilling penalty shootout.

Along with three loan stints with Aston Villa and a brief stay at Napoli in 2022, the Congolese international currently plays for DR Congo at the senior level. Both Manchester United and Tuanzebe’s attorneys, Simons Muirhead Burton, have declined to publicly comment on the continuing processes, thus specifics of the purported injury and the claim’s circumstances are still classified.

The claim is thought to be valuable and could have a big impact; damages could be more than £1 million. The case highlights the growing complexity of legal disputes pertaining to elite football player injuries and medical management.

As the legal dispute with his former club continues, Tuanzebe, who has struggled with multiple injuries during his career, will now try to turn his playing fortunes around at Burnley.
