FIFA ruled out two of PSG’s defenders, making them hit hard
The French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have suffered a severe blow as they are ready to play Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday: FIFA has suspended both Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez for the rest of the competition.
Hernandez was sent off for an unnecessary elbow on Raphaël Guerreiro, while Pacho was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Bayern’s Leon Goretzka.
FIFA’s late-night announcement, which was initially interpreted as a semi-final defeat, confirmed that both players will face two-match bans, excluding them from a potential final as well. With only Marquinhos and Lucas Beraldo remaining to hold the line against Real Madrid and perhaps Fluminense or Chelsea in the final, Luis Enrique is deprived of his strongest defensive combination due to this unforeseen decision. Time is running out, yet Paris can be alluring.
