Conor McGregor hopes to make a UFC return at the White House in 2026
The former UFC champion claims that following Trump’s audacious declaration, he is prepared to fight on the White House lawn.
Conor McGregor wants to participate in the contentious UFC bout that will be held at the White House.
On social media on July 4th, the beleaguered Irish fighter showed interest in the UFC event that Donald Trump had previously suggested. To commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary, Trump declared that he will hold a brawl at the White House in July 2026.
On his Twitter account, McGregor wrote, “Happy Fourth of July, USA.” President Trump’s announcement of a UFC fight event at the White House excites me. That would be an honor! Count me in.
Additionally, McGregor shared photos of what looked to be a text exchange in which he proposed attending the event to UFC president Dana White. By posting an AI-generated picture of himself on the White House grounds, facing up against an unidentified opponent, he doubled down.
Trump said the 2026 event would attract up to 25,000 people and feature a separate tournament between elite high school athletes from all throughout the United States.
In July 2021, McGregor had a severe leg injury against Dustin Poirier, which prevented him from returning to the Octagon. Despite being planned, a 2024 comeback bout against Michael Chandler was canceled when McGregor claimed to have a foot ailment. It’s unclear if he will return to fighting because he is still dealing with legal issues from a civil case involving an incident that happened in Dublin in 2018.
Nevertheless, McGregor makes it plain that he wants to be involved in any historic bout that takes place at the White House.
