In Beijing, China, THU Robotics from Tsinghua University faced the Mountain Sea squad in a three-on-three contest.

The competition, which took place in August in the Chinese capital prior to the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Sports Games, was won by THU Robotics.

It ended up being 5-3.

Dou Jing, executive director of the event’s organizing committee and deputy general manager of Shangyicheng Technology and Culture Group, told the Global Times about the June 28 tournament, saying: “This is the first fully autonomous AI robot football match in China.”

“It combines technological innovation with industrial application, and it’s a significant opportunity to introduce robots into real-world situations and public life.”
