Amerie Verifies Divorce From 19-Year Husband

Amerie is back on stage and concentrating on her music after divorcing her husband of 19 years.

Amerie recently announced that she and her spouse of 19 years, Lenny Nicholson, are divorcing.

At the 2025 BET Awards, Angela Yee presumed that Amerie and her partner were still together during an interview on Way Up With Angela Yee. The singer of “1 Thing,” however, was honest when she said, “I was, but not now.”

Amerie had to clarify after Yee and co-host Jasmine were obviously taken by surprise. She said, “Not everyone knows that we’ve been apart since 2023, but we’re going through the divorce.” She also said that she isn’t sure if she wants to go back into dating.

Lenny, Amerie’s former manager, and she were married in 2011. They had been dating since 2007. River Rowe is their 7-year-old son.

Given that Amerie has always kept her personal life private, it was appropriate that the split remained secret.

However, one thing is certain: Amerie is once again outside. In a recent performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, the R&B favorite lit up the 2025 BET Awards, reminding everyone why she’s still that girl.

The music is clearly in the air right now, even though love may not be.
