Williams: Our goal is to reveal to the world the identity of Sundowns

Ronwen Williams is sure that Mamelodi Sundowns will be able to get past the group rounds at the 2025 Club World Cup. They want to get back on track after losing the CAF Champions League.

Bafana Ba Style lost the Champions League final to Pyramids 3-2 overall, which meant they didn’t win Africa’s top club prize. They will now focus on the expanded intercontinental event in the US.

The team led by Miguel Cardoso was put in Group F with Fluminense from Brazil, Borussia Dortmund from Germany, and Ulsan HD from South Korea. Their first game was on June 17 against the Tigers in Orlando.

Williams wants Masandawana to show the world what they can do. He thinks they can make it to the next round as long as the players don’t think too much about their recent loss to Pyramids.

The Bafana Bafana goalie said, “We think we have enough to get out of the group, which will be huge for the club.”

When you look at the group, there are some big names. It will be hard, but we think we can get through it. We want people to know who Sundowns are at the game.

“The last few days of rest have been used for us to talk about the Champions League loss.” It was very important to stay away from each other since we had so many games and trips this season.

“Having five days away from each other recharged us and brought back the spark.” We had to take that bitter loss, but we have to try again.

There is always a chance to play for Mamelodi Sundowns, and this is the best one yet. We can’t stay sad for too long; we need to get ready for what’s likely to be the biggest club tournament.

“To win the Champions League and go to the Club World Cup as continental champions would have been ideal.” We could have gone with faith, but now we need to dig deep.

“The team and I both felt the worst defeat of our careers because of how much we gave up and how hard we worked to get there.” We said we would do it all the way through, but now we have to start over.
