Neymar Jr. Has Tested Positive for COVID-19, According to Santos

Neymar is renowned for his stunning goals, incredible dribbling, and quick feet.

Santos FC, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior’s club, announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Since Thursday, Neymar has been absent from Santos’ training due to coronavirus symptoms; a follow-up test is set for Monday.

The forward is infected with the virus for the second time. He has previously tested positive when playing for Paris Saint-Germain in May 2021.

Neymar Jr. had laboratory testing for a viral ailment that started on Thursday, June 5, following review by Santos FC’s Medical Department, which verified Covid-19 infection, the club said in a statement.

“A doctor has determined that the player is still resting at home and receiving symptomatic treatment, having already been absent from activities since Thursday when he started exhibiting symptoms.”

Currently playing for Santos, his boyhood club, Neymar, 33, has suffered a decline in his form since leaving the French team in 2023. He is being constantly watched at home and is said to be in a stable condition.

He is Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals for his country. But injuries have significantly cut short his career. In a 0–2 loss to Uruguay in October 2023, he made his final appearance for his country before being carted off due to an injury.

He was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the current World Cup qualifying matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, thus he missed the Copa America 2024.

Neymar has been a hero for Brazil. He won the Confederations Cup in 2013 and the Olympic gold medal in Rio in 2016. He overtook the legendary Pelé as Brazil’s highest goal scorer in 2023. He has participated in numerous Copa América competitions and three World Cups.

Neymar is renowned for his stunning goals, incredible dribbling, and quick feet. He plays creatively and joyfully. He is among the greatest players of his generation and has had a fantastic career despite setbacks and injuries.
