McCarthy is still aiming for his first victory with Kenya

Kenyan coach Benni McCarthy is still without a victory after his third game in command ended in a goalless draw with Chad in Saturday’s international friendly at Morocco’s Marrakech Stadium.

After agreeing to a two-year contract, McCarthy was named the new coach of Kenya’s national team in March. The South African told BBC Sport Africa that he wanted to help Kenya go to the World Cup.

Following their takeover, McCarthy’s team has lost 2-1 to Gabon, drawn 0-0 with Chad, and drawn 3-3 with Gambia already.

Kenya is currently ranked fourth out of six teams in group F of the FIFA World Cup African qualifiers. They will play Gambia in their qualifying match on September 1.

Tuesday’s rematch between Kenya and Chad at Marrakech Stadium will provide McCarthy another chance to record his first victory.
