Inzaghi was hired by Al-Hilal as their new boss before the FIFA World Cup
Al-Hilal’s new coach, Simone Inzaghi, was revealed by the Saudi Pro League squad on Wednesday.
After a trophyless season that ended with a humiliating 5-0 loss to Paris St. Germain in the Champions League final, the former Inter Milan coach left the Serie A squad on Tuesday.
It was in Paris that the 49-year-old Italian signed a two-year contract, the Saudi club said. Its yearly value might reach up to 30 million euros ($34.25 million), according to Italian media.
Inzaghi won six championships at Inter, including one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia titles, and three Italian Super Cups.
Al-Hilal, who has won the Saudi Arabian title a record 19 times and the Asian championship four times, will be looking to add to his collection.
When Al-Hilal announced Inzaghi’s employment on social media, they referred to him as “The Italian Genius.”
His first assignment will be to lead them in their June 18 match against Real Madrid at the Club World Cup in the United States.
