CAF and TECNO sign a two-year sponsorship agreement
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Morocco 2025 and TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda 2027 will have TECNO as their official global partner thanks to a sponsorship agreement signed by TECNO and the Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”).
CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba and TECNO Vice President Shiming Jiang announced the new agreement in Nairobi, Kenya, one of the host nations for the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2027.
The announcement between TECNO and CAF comes after TECNO and CAF had a fruitful collaboration at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, when TECNO served as the competition’s sole smartphone sponsor. This collaboration strengthened TECNO’s dedication to African football and led to an unparalleled expansion in involvement and reach.
“A number of exciting sponsorship agreements have been concluded by CAF with African and international partners as a result of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations’ remarkable growth and success,” stated CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Africa’s largest athletic event, will continue to expand and reach new markets and audiences thanks to the cooperation with TECNO. We appreciate TECNO’s investment in African football on behalf of CAF and its 54 Member Associations.
“This renewed partnership is a testament to the deep trust and shared success we’ve built with CAF,” stated Benjamin Jiang, vice president of Transsion Holdings. In our prior partnership, we saw how football sparked enthusiasm and dreams, and how smart solutions driven by AI developed into effective means of empowering and connecting millions of people throughout Africa. Because of this, this collaboration transcends the game and serves as a platform for young people to shine and a symbol of ambition, bound together by an unwavering spirit of growth. It embodies our common goal of using AI-driven innovation to create a more promising future for Africa. An important turning point in TECNO’s future is this restored partnership.
As the Official Global Partner and Exclusive Partner in the Smartphone category, TECNO will increase its visibility and engagement while gaining access to more media and social media activation rights. This will allow TECNO to engage with young people more closely, spread the love of football, and encourage a spirit of progress and daring among Africans.
Furthermore, TECNO and CAF will continue its “Dream Field Renovation” Campaign, which was started in 2024 and aims to renovate 100 football pitches throughout Africa by 2028.
Reflecting TECNO’s “Stop at Nothing” philosophy, this program seeks to ensure access to high-quality playing grounds in underprivileged communities, encourage youth engagement, and promote healthy living.
