Chris Brown, a singer, was eventually freed on £5 million bail
Chris Brown was charged with an alleged “unprovoked attack,” but a London court has granted him bail.
The musician, 36, has not yet been asked to enter a plea in the case. Following Wednesday’s bail hearing, which he did not attend, he was required to pay a £5 million security charge to Southwark Crown Court.
The singer’s permission to continue his world tour, which includes stops in the UK in June and July, was confirmed by Judge Tony Baumgartner.
A financial guarantee that he will appear in court again is the security charge, which is £4 million paid now and £1 million due in seven days.
The money may be forfeited if Brown violates the terms of his bail.
On June 20, the “Run It” singer is expected to appear in court. This date coincides with appearances at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The judge stipulated that as part of the terms of his release, he must turn in his passport whenever he is not on tour.
Along with living at a particular residence specified by the court, he is also prohibited from contacting the alleged victim, filing for travel permits, or going to the Tape nightclub.
Early on May 15, after arriving in Manchester for his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour, he was taken into custody at the Lowry Hotel.
Initially, he was detained after being denied bail the next day.
According to the allegations, he attacked music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle in a nightclub in London in 2023, inflicting him serious physical injuries.
Next month, he is scheduled to appear in court alongside his co-defendant, HoodyBaby, Omololu Akinlolu.
Brown’s tour will begin in Amsterdam on June 8 and go to ten locations in the UK, including Birminigham and Glasgow, as well as Manchester’s Co-op Live venue on June 15.
