Postecoglou brushes off worries about his employment, saying, “I’m not a clown”

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, furiously denied a claim that he was a clown during a combative press conference performance on Tuesday before of the Europa League final.

Before Wednesday’s match against Manchester United, the Spurs manager stated that his job was unimportant and that the team’s main goal was to win their first trophy since 2008 and their first piece of European silverware in forty-one years.

Postecoglou told reporters, “My future is assured, mate,” after his team had their worst domestic season in almost 50 years.

“Changing jobs is hardly something I would be the first to do. My family is really lovely. I lead a wonderful life. Don’t waste any more sleep on the subject.

Spurs won the League Cup in 2008, their final domestic title, and the UEFA Cup in 1984, their last European victory.

Speaking impassionedly about his parents’ trip from Greece to Australia, the coach emphasized that his first priority was to take advantage of the chance to provide Tottenham and their fans something unique.

“Whatever happens beyond tomorrow is kind of irrelevant if you think about the opportunity that is presented for us right now,” Postecoglou stated.

“So many years have passed without a trophy being won. We wouldn’t be in this situation if I had been concerned about my time with this club since I would have been too preoccupied with trivial matters.”

At one point, Postecoglou responded strongly to a newspaper piece that implied he would be viewed as either a clown or a hero, and he insisted he had not addressed his future with his players.

“I’m not a clown,” he declared himself. “I’ll keep on winning trophies till I finish, whenever that is.”

Additionally, he implied that winning the Europa League final, which offers a route to the Champions League the next season, may solidify his position at Spurs.

“I don’t believe this is where my work ends. Postecoglou remarked, “I truly felt like we were creating something here, and hopefully a trophy will speed this up.”

“Given the obstacles we’ve faced this year, which I believe are well documented, I still believe there is a lot of work to be done. However, there has also been some progress, which I hope will continue.

So, buddy, don’t worry about my future. I’ll be alright.
