Ghana is criticized by the Nigerian boxing chief for the delay in returning the boxer’s body

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and the Ghanaian government have come under heavy fire from Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, president of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBC), for what he calls an intolerable delay in returning the body of Nigerian fighter Segun Olanrewaju to his home country.

Speaking with obvious annoyance, Dr. Ladipo conveyed his profound worry that the deceased boxer’s remains have been kept in Ghana for more than two months, causing his bereaved family much grief.

“The GBA and the Ghanaian government are in charge of returning the boxer’s body to Nigeria,” he stated. “How is it possible to keep the body of a Nigerian boxer in Ghana for two months?”

A young Nigerian combatant named Olanrewaju tragically died in Ghana for unspecified reasons. Dr. Ladipo claims that delays in returning his body to Nigeria for burial since his passing are disrespectful and inhumane.

This man has a wife, children, and a family. “Observe the mental anguish they are enduring,” Ladipo added. “What would Ghanaians say if a Ghanaian boxer were to suffer this fate?”

The president of the NBBC further disclosed that emotions had escalated to the extent where Olanrewaju’s family had organized a protest against Ghana’s embassy in Germany. He claimed that in order to put an end to the protest, he had to personally step in.

“I prevented Segun Olanrewaju’s family members from staging a demonstration yesterday in Germany. They planned to demonstrate against the delay in his body’s release at the Ghanaian Embassy in Germany.

In order to honor the late boxer and his family, Dr. Ladipo is now pleading with the GBA and Ghanaian officials to take prompt, dignified action and make sure his remains is returned to Nigeria as soon as possible. The increasing clamor emphasizes how emotionally taxing the situation is and how urgently a humanitarian and diplomatic solution is needed.
