Manhunt is already underway after 11 inmates broke out of the New Orleans jail via the toilet wall

Eleven prisoners got away from the Orleans Parish Justice Center in New Orleans on Friday, which led to a huge search.

Sheriff Susan Hutson said the breakout was found during a normal head count at 8:30 a.m. and that it was a “very serious and unacceptable situation.”

The sheriff’s office took pictures of a big hole behind a toilet in a cell. There was writing above the hole that said “We Innocent” and “Too Easy LOL.”

Chief Christopher Goodly of Field Operations said that the people who got away “should be thought of as armed and dangerous.” Records from the jail show that at least four of them are charged with murder or attempted murder. Other charges include armed robbery, battery, and drug crimes.

Kendall Myles, one of the escapees, has been caught. He was caught after a short chase through the French Quarter. Police say they found him hiding under a car in the Hotel Monteleone parking lot.

Twenty-year-old Myles had gotten away from the Bridge City Center before, in 2022. He was later charged with attempted murder and carjacking after he reportedly stole a 59-year-old man’s car and shot him twice.

Governor Jeff Landry wrote on Twitter, “Thank you to Troop NOLA for their hard work and speed in catching the first escapee.” “To the other 10: YOU’RE NEXT!”

“Someone clearly dropped the ball,” Attorney General Liz Murrill said. I want a full probe because this is unbelievably wrong.

Police Chief Hutson told everyone, “Remain alert…” Do not talk to or interact with the prisoners.

The sheriff’s office is working with state, county, and federal agencies to find the people who have still gotten away.
