Amoris sends a worrying message about Man United’s shape
Ruben Amorim, the coach of Manchester United, made another concerning assessment of the Red Devils’ disastrous season just hours before the team’s encounter against Chelsea on matchday 37 of the Premier League.
United has never dropped this low since the Premier League’s creation in 1992, sitting 16th in the standings and nearer the relegation zone than the top half. There isn’t much to cheer about for supporters, as Amorim’s team has only won six of their last 26 games and faces fellow struggling team Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Amorim didn’t mince words when he told Sky Sports, “I’m embarrassed that we’ve only won six in 26 matches. We’re not playing football the way we should. It’s not always tactical; sometimes it’s about how we handle competition, how we suffer, and how we respond to defeat. I have a strong sense of what needs to be improved, both on and off the field, after everything we’ve been through.
Amorim clarified that additions won’t fix everything while speaking about transfer window expectations: “We can’t change the feeling at the club in the summer.” We must abandon the notion that transfers will make things better. We’ve lost that conviction—that knowledge that we are Manchester United. His remarks as the season draws to a close depict a dismal team that has fallen far from its past splendor.
