Former Premier League referee who raped a man was sentenced to nine years in prison

Wilson’s job as a referee ended when the scandal broke in 2009. He was then taken off of England’s National List of Referees.

Wilson has been a referee since 1985 and has moved up the ranks. In 2005, he became an assistant referee in the highest level of football play.

A referee who used to work in England’s top league was jailed for rape and sexual attack in 2009 after escaping justice for more than 12 years.

Daily Mail says that Steven Wilson, 55, who used to be known as Steven Dorr, was given a nine-year jail sentence on Monday at a Crown Court for putting his victim through what the court called a “degrading and humiliating ordeal” at his old home.

The news source said Wilson’s victim was tricked by the former official, who told him he would take him to a party “where there are a lot of girls.”

When the victim got to Wilson’s Worcester apartment, it was empty, and Wilson had locked the door behind them, keeping him inside. The victim didn’t know Wilson and had never met him before.

The former official then put on adult movies on TV and made the man have oral sex with him, the court heard. Following that, he sexually attacked him.

The victim was trapped in the apartment for three or four hours. Detectives in charge of the probe called it “awful.”

The person Wilson raped was very scared while he was locked in his apartment because he didn’t know Wilson or what he could do.

In 2021, years after the crimes, the victim finally identified Wilson when reading an online story about his conviction in November 2011 for sexual offenses with teenage boys under the name Steven Dorr.

Wilson’s job as a referee ended when the scandal broke in 2009. He was then taken off of England’s National List of Referees.

Wilson has been a referee since 1985 and has moved up the ranks. In 2005, he became an assistant referee in the highest level of football play.

Wilson was promoted twice in the same year and was one of 50 judges chosen to work in the Football League. His time at the top of English football only lasted a few months.
