Lil Durk Wins in Court When His Lyrics Are Removed from the Murder-for-Hire Case

Lil Durk’s ongoing murder-for-hire case has seen a little but noteworthy victory.

His rap lyrics will not be used as evidence in the forthcoming trial, the court has decided. This is a setback for prosecutors, who claimed that Durk’s detention was justified by references to the 2022 attack on Quando Rondo that killed his cousin, using lyrics from “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy.”

The rapper has once again been refused bail for breaking jail phone rules, despite this judicial triumph. Durk is still being accused by prosecutors of setting a bounty on Rondo in vengeance for King Von’s death in 2020.

The music in question was written and released prior to the attack, as Durk’s legal team successfully argued. His family, meantime, has criticized the prosecution’s strategies.

They claimed that in order to indict him, the government had given a grand jury misleading evidence. “This isn’t fair. That is against the very system that is meant to keep us all safe.

They went on to say, “Durk has always used music to heal and tell stories, but now those same lyrics are being used against him.” Black artists are still being criminalized for their work, and we will not remain silent. Rap is art.

The family asked supporters to “stand with us” and begged for public solidarity. Be a truth-teller. Be a fair person. Be a voice for the voice.

The date of Durk’s upcoming court appearance is June 2. Asa Houston, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, and Kavon London Grant have also been taken into custody for their involvement in the conspiracy. If found guilty, each of the men risks a life sentence in prison.
