Geobek, a well-known music executive, discusses his new position as Harmonize’s international manager, the music industry, and prospects for the future

The Sauce spoke with the music industry expert about his new position, his opinions on the music industry, and the duties of his new position.

1. Congratulations on taking up the position of International Manager at Harmonize. 

What was the origin of this new role? My extensive expertise in the music industry, talent development, talent management, networking, and relationship building led to this role. I accept his invitation to fully assist Harmonize’s brand positioning at the internation level because I have more to give in the areas of international strategy for Harmonize’s career, having worked with him as an executive producer and A&R specialist on one of his biggest hit songs, “Single Again.”

2. What will you be doing with Harmonize as the new International Manager? 

In my capacity as an international artist manager, I will be instrumental in planning, directing his team toward the global vision, and overseeing Harmonize’s career globally. 

3. One of Tanzania’s largest exports of music is Harmonize. In what ways do you intend to advance his career? 

This will be a strategic plan involving international collaborations and teams that will be on the lookout for chances to keep Harmonize from becoming one of Tanzania’s largest music exporters to one of Africa’s music exporters. 

4. What will the working dynamic be like since you are based in a different country and he is based in Tanzania? 

As the title suggests, an international manager must be active in the global arena, fostering connections and generating chances for the artist’s advantage. He needs this knowledge and network to construct the bridge for international crossover, therefore I accepted the invitation to help his local team advance his career to international competitions, which I am familiar with. In order to ensure that everyone is working toward the artist’s larger goal, I will be traveling to Tanzania to coordinate with his staff there.

5. Have you already collaborated in this precise role with other African artists? Whoare they? 

Yes, I have collaborated with Burna Boy and utilized our partnership to advance the careers of foreign musicians from Mozambique, such as Yaba Buluku Boyz and DJ Tarico.

6. You have overseen the careers of several African celebrities. What standards do you apply when choosing who to collaborate with and who not to?

I collaborate with those that have a vision that uplifts the society and gives gifted individuals more authority. individuals who are enthusiastic about developing and starting a prosperous career in the entertainment and music industries. I don’t support you if your goal is to benefit yourself alone, but I do support you if your achievement would elevate your nation and advance pan-Africanism. It ultimately comes down to preserving the heritage of African music and culture and using talent for commercial success.

7. Your expertise of the music business is absolutely outstanding. What else shaped your skills in this profession, other from your academic background, of course? 

My desire for perfection is shaped by my passion for sustainability and greatness. My motto, as it is commonly known, is “passion done professionally,” with the goal of turning passion into profit. The Geobek Standard is this.

8. Did you always want to collaborate with Tanzanian celebrities? Which other TZ names would you be adamant about collaborating with?

I’ve collaborated on various musical projects with the following Tanzanian artists because I’m interested in collaborating with artists who have something exceptional to contribute. artists like Marioo, Jux, Ibraah, Diamond Platnumz, and Harmonize. Exporting TZ culture to a wider audience is the current priority.

9. What characteristics define a successful A&R and astute music executive?

Having a strong ear for talent, a creative vision for the talent business, the ability to understand and spot trends before they become popular, a strong network of influential people in the industry, including producers, songwriters, instrumentalists, artists, sound engineers, and studio managers, are some of the traits of a top A&R (Artists and Repertoire) artist. A music executive needs to be well-versed in the business and have the ability to negotiate. 

10. Which Kenyan musicians are you keeping an eye on right now?

I’m listening to the whole East African vibe right now, and I’ll see who grabs my interest for worldwide management in due time. 

11. What are your prospects for the future in general?

My hopes for the future include expanding into larger markets, both in Africa and globally. Boost our ecosystem so that up-and-coming artists can thrive and the culture is preserved.
