Andrew Tate will be put on trial in 2027 for alleged physical, sexual, and coercive control abuse
In 2027, Andrew Tate will stand trial in the UK for alleged abuse and coercive control charges made by four women.
Internet celebrity who is controversial Following complaints from four women who claimed he had abused them physically and sexually, Andrew Tate is scheduled to stand trial in civil court in 2027. Attorneys have called the case the first of its sort in the UK. It concerns charges of coercive control, a legal theory that could be tried in a civil action for the first time in the High Court.
The court has safeguarded the women’s identities, and they claim that the abuse took place between 2013 and 2015. While the other two allegedly worked for Tate’s internet webcam company, two of them assert that they had an intimate relationship with him.
According to court documents, one claimant revealed that Tate had threatened her with a gun, saying, “You’re going to do as I say or there’ll be hell to pay.” During a sexual encounter, Tate allegedly strangled another lady until she passed out.
All accusations are denied by Tate, 38. His defense team wrote that the allegations are “entirely false” and that all sexual conduct was voluntary. Vanessa Marshall, Tate’s attorney, stated that Tate plans to testify at the trial, but he did not show up for the preliminary hearing on Tuesday at the High Court.
The trial is a potentially historic occasion in civil litigation, according to the claimants’ attorney, Anne Studd. She stated that this would be the first time that coercive control had been brought before the High Court in a civil case. Coercive control was defined in court filings as “a form of grooming and manipulation where the victim becomes less and less able to respond in what might be perceived as a normal way.”
Tate and his brother Tristan, meanwhile, are still being investigated by Romanian police. Authorities are looking into claims that the brothers, who both deny the charges, were involved in human trafficking, sexually abusing children, running an organized crime network, and money laundering. After a Romanian court overturned a travel prohibition, the two traveled to the US early this year, but they have since returned to Romania to fulfill their legal duties.
