Tyla, the “Water” hitmaker, wants to release rap music

Tyla is eager to show off her rap abilities.

The 23-year-old South African singer has disclosed that she has created “full-on rap songs” that she is eager to offer with her listeners. She gained notoriety after her 2023 hit song “Water” went viral on TikTok.

Regarding her “broad” musical tastes, she told Nylon, “I never really studied specific artists.” I simply became fixated on the songs, performances, and music videos that I enjoyed. It was quite general. R&B singers, pop performers, and rappers. I knew I wanted to produce something entirely different from anything I had heard previously, so it began with the music I wanted to create. Anything and everything was being made by myself. I have rap-heavy tunes. R&B in full force. Amapiano in full force. After a lot of playing, I discovered a blend that seemed authentic to me.

“I won’t lie, it’s hot,” she said in response to a question on what to expect from her rapping. I can’t wait to prove to folks that I’m more varied than they may realize. When it comes to my art, I want to take my time and do whatever feels right at the time. You will therefore eventually hear the Tyla rap song.
Tyla is eager to demonstrate her growth as a person and an artist, and she is always creating new music.

“I’m in the studio every day that I can,” she stated. Right now, I’m working on the new project. Even while I adore my debut album, 2024’s “Tyla,” I feel like a completely different person, which is why I’m so excited. Everything that has transpired has compelled me to mature rapidly. Additionally, I’m the kind of person that gets bored easily. I can’t wait to see this new me, hear how it sounds, and just enjoy myself—just bring back the good times with music.
