NBA star Jimmy Butler covers ex’s attorney fees amid ongoing child support dispute

Jimmy Butler’s lengthy legal battle is costing him a lot of money!

According to reports, the NBA player has consented to cover his ex-girlfriend Kaitlin Nowak’s legal costs as they proceed with their ongoing child support dispute in court.

Jimmy Butler has three children: two males born in 2022 and 2023, and a daughter born in 2019. According to reports, the athlete pays $55,000 a month in child support.

A 24-hour mediation session has been mandated for Jimmy Butler and his ex-partner.

The NBA player has decided to back his ex-girlfriend in her ongoing child support lawsuit.

According to court records, Jimmy will send $30,000 to Kaitlin’s legal team to assist with her court costs.

This sum might be subtracted from any further payments he has to make to her. The ex-couples have also made the decision to work with a mediator they both agree on.

Before the end of the month, the ex-couple will have a full day of mediation, and Jimmy has said he will pay for the costs. This information comes from In Touch.

The professional basketball player said his ex-partner wouldn’t take a job offer.

After Kaitlin sued Jimmy for paternity in October 2023, the basketball player was found to be the child’s father in February 2024. The case’s specifics were kept under wraps until it was made public by an article published in December 2024.

The sportsman publicly chastised his ex during this period for supposedly failing to look for work. After their youngest kid was born, he had originally agreed to pay her an additional $10,000 a month on top of the $55,000 support for a nanny.

Jimmy’s attorney, however, attempted to stop this extra payment, claiming that a lot had changed since the arrangement was struck. The first preparations were made when the infant was just five weeks old, and the youngest was now one year old.

The athlete said that over extended periods of time, including the summer of 2024, he shared custody of their two elder children.

He underlined that there would be little to no need for Kaitlin to keep hiring a nanny because the middle child would probably start preschool and the oldest would start school in the 2025–2026 school year.

The Former Miami Heats Player Discusses Parenting

According to PEOPLE, the NBA player and Kaitlin have been together since 2019, the year they welcomed Rylee Butler into the world. With the birth of their son, Brayan Butler, in 2022, their family increased.

When Rylee joined the Miami Heat for the first time following a brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, it was a turning point in Jimmy’s career. The basketball player puts his kids first, no matter how difficult his career may be.

The Netflix documentary “Starting 5”, which tracks five basketball players throughout the 2023–2024 season, features both Rylee and Brayan. Jimmy gives his kids a peek inside his morning routine in the first episode, including Rylee’s amusing familiarity with his favorite coffee, cappuccino.

His dedication to being a devoted parent is demonstrated by his statement, “When I come home, they don’t care if I had a triple-double or if I fouled out in the first three minutes of the game; I’m just their dad.”

After a difficult six-year stint with the Miami Heat, the sportsman underwent a major transformation in February 2025 when he was traded to the Golden State Warriors.

The 35-year-old disclosed his choice for the godfather of his daughter.

Jimmy said in an April 2021 episode of “The Artist and The Athlete” podcast that his daughter Rylee’s godfather is a former Miami Heat player and a good buddy.

Jimmy mentioned his close friendship with Kyle Lowry and their playful attitude despite the competitive aspect of the NBA when asked which NBA player he would most like to compete against.

Funny enough, he indicated he was worried the league would think he was “tampering” if he spoke too much. Jimmy has offered supporters glimpses of his kids’ time together, despite the fact that he usually keeps them out of the spotlight.
