Sean Paul Discusses His Views On Artificial Intelligence In The Music Industry
Sean Paul is “apprehensive” about the possible effects of artificial intelligence.
The 52-year-old celebrity acknowledges that AI might be a “pandora’s box” for the music industry as a whole.
“It’s a Pandora’s box – when you open it, it’s going to change all the parameters,” the “Get Busy” hitmaker, who has collaborated with artists like Beyonce and Sia over his career, told Sky News. It is your responsibility to adjust to the game.
Sean worries that music may become “more disposable” and songwriters “lazy” as a result of AI.
“I am concerned that some aspects of [it] may discourage people from writing,” he stated. It can turn into a toy and increase the disposable value of music.
In fact, Sean believes he has been “the short end of the stick for a long time.”
As the artist and creator, I feel like I’ve been treated unfairly for a long time, the number-one star commented. We receive 0.0 something of the product even before streaming days, and we are the ones that produced it.
Sean is adamant about keeping an open mind about AI’s possibilities in spite of this.
“I’ve used it to try to finish riddim patterns that I have,” he stated. I think everyone should use it as a tool, and I did.
Sir Paul McCartney suggested modifications to copyright legislation earlier this year that would shield artists from artificial intelligence.
The legendary member of the Beatles cautioned that AI might turn the music industry into a “Wild West.”
