Cardi B and Offset are nearly exonerated in their property damage lawsuit

Offset, Cardi B’s estranged partner, has reached a provisional agreement with the landlord who filed the lawsuit against them!

According to reports, the rapper has consented to pay for the harm done to the plaintiff’s residence during their extended stay there.

In December 2023, Cardi B and Offset’s business, Sallie Smith LLC, was brought before the court by SD Squared. The former couple was charged by the landlord with negligence and violation of contract.

Before settling, Cardi B’s estranged husband and the landlord are still reviewing the specifics.

Offset and his separated wife, Cardi, have struck a provisional deal with a landlord who had sued them for claimed damages to a Los Angeles property. According to court filings, the deal was reached during mediation on November 7, 2024.

A deal was apparently reached “in principle” between the rapper and the landlord, but “still need to agree on a couple of details before executing the settlement agreement.”

According to In Touch, SD Squared sued Offset, Cardi, and Offset’s business, Sallie Smith LLC, in December 2023, claiming carelessness and breach of contract. According to the lawsuit, Offset’s business entered into a lease for a Los Angeles residence in February 2022.

Cardi and Offset lived on the property for 20 months until leaving abruptly in October 2023, according to SD Squared. The lawsuit also claimed that during a specific time during their tenancy, they neglected to pay utilities and rent.

Following unsuccessful attempts to get in touch with Offset and the Grammy winner, the landlord filed the lawsuit.

Additionally, the landlord asserted that after leaving the house, the estranged couple caused significant property damage. Permanent stains and scrapes on the limestone tile flooring, broken drapes and carpets, and colorful paint on white leather furniture are among the alleged damages.
In addition, there are several holes and scratches on the walls, shattered furniture and speakers, and burn marks on different surfaces.

Repairs are expected to cost at least $85,000 in total. The landlord has taken legal action because the defendants have rejected several attempts to settle the matter amicably, according to the landlord’s attorney.

Offset and his business, Sallie Smith LLC, refuted any claims of misconduct pertaining to their lease, nonetheless. They argue that some of the provisions of the agreement were obtained by fraud and duress, and that other aspects are unconscionable.

Offset’s business filed a countersuit in response to the disagreement with the landlord, claiming that they had originally agreed to pay $35,000 a month for an opulent 8,535-square-foot property in Beverly Hills with five bedrooms and six bathrooms.

But they claim that the landlord once insisted on raising the rent to $45,000 per month.

The ‘Clout’ hitmaker reportedly departed the property after the lease price unexpectedly increased.

The musician’s team also asserted that the landlord neglected to fix dangerous stairs, which Offset claimed caused one of his family members to be hurt.

Offset claimed that when he asked for repairs, the landlord turned him down and threatened to evict them if they didn’t consent to forgoing any liability for the damage.

According to the lawsuit, Offset felt obliged to abide by the landlord’s requests since leaving the home would have been extremely difficult, particularly considering his and his ex-wife Cardi’s hectic work schedules and their roles as parents of small children.

After the landlord raised the rent to $75,000 per month in June 2023, Offset finally made the decision to vacate the house. Additionally, Offset’s business noted that the landlord had not offered any supporting documentation for the claimed damages.

Rather, the landlord accused them of not returning Sallie Smith’s $35,000 deposit. However, once a settlement agreement is finalized by both sides, the dispute is anticipated to be closed.

During their divorce last year, the estranged couple was named in a nonpayment lawsuit.

The former couple was involved in a lawsuit last year that was filed by a mansion’s owner. According to The Blast, the lawsuit claimed that the two filmed a music video on the property without permission or payment.

The opulent Beverly Hills home that appeared in their March music video for “Like What,” according to the owner, was utilized without their consent.

The music video for Cardi’s song was directed by Offset, however it appears that he and Cardi, as well as their team, may have taken short cuts to get the mansion for the filming.

The property owner claimed that agents representing the divorcing couple told him that an unidentified customer wanted to use the site to shoot a TikTok video. Unfortunately, the homeowner thought things were different and let Cardi and Offset use his property for free.

He subsequently stated that, like he did with other celebrities, he would have charged them if he had known they planned to shoot a music video at his house.

According to reports, the property has a history of celebrity rentals; it was formerly rented by Justin Bieber and appeared in a music video for Logan Paul. The owner requested more than $35,000 in damages due to Cardi’s “Like What” video’s widespread exposure and popularity.

Offset, Cardi B’s estranged spouse, has stated his terms in the ongoing divorce proceedings.

The Blast revealed last month that the rapper, who was born in Atlanta, had finally spoken his preferences over the pending divorce of his marriage to the social media star. Offset explained that he made his choice because he would prefer the entire process to be stress-free.

Offset stated that he is focused on obtaining shared custody of their children and reaffirmed his intention to dissolve his marriage to the artist. The rapper requested that Cardi’s house be named as their primary residence and requested joint legal custody of their three children.

Furthermore, Offset asked the court to rule on the child support obligations of both parents after their separation, which Cardi started when she was expecting their third kid.

In addition, he requested that both parents pay their legal bills and proceeded to divide their marital assets.

Offset and Cardi B no longer have to worry about a court case!
