Ye explains why he turned down an invitation to the inauguration of Donald Trump

Over the past decade, there has been a great deal of support between the two popular characters.

Numerous artists attended Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, making it a popular topic in the hip-hop scene. However, one person was conspicuously missing. The reason Ye turned down an invitation to the swearing-in of the 47th President was just made clear.

During Sunday night’s (February 2) Grammys after-party, the musician who was previously known as Kanye West showed out snippets from his upcoming interview on Justin LaBoy’s Respectfully. They talked about Trump in one tape, and the Chicago producer indicated that if he went to the inauguration, he would have to apologize for his antisemitic remarks.

My intention was to attend the inauguration. Before [I was informed] that I needed to write another apology stating that, yes, I wasn’t “What is it?” he asked. “This censorship stigma is the cause.” It seems a little perplexing that the multiple Grammy winner would not comply since he has already expressed regret to the Jewish community. He launched another tirade against Jews in 2023, but he soon acknowledged his mistake. In an Instagram post that has since been removed, he said, “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions.” “I truly regret any hurt I may have caused, and it was not my intention to offend or denigrate.”

The history of the friendship between Ye and Donald Trump has been intriguing. From 2016 until the past couple years, both public personalities were very similar. For several years, the father of four wore the red “Make America Great Again” hat and supported Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016. Following his antisemitic outbursts in 2022, the Vultures artist decided he wanted to run for president and asked Trump to be his running mate. This is when their relationship took a turn for the worst.

Although Ye’s effort did not succeed, he did once again support Trump in his 2024 presidential campaign. In November 2024, he won a reelection in 2020 and secured another four-year term by defeating former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris also became involved in a series of rash tweets from the divisive artist. He added on Saturday night (February 1), “Until Kamala lost, I wanted to fk her.” I don’t any longer fk losers. “The Democrats forced me to remove the loser post,” he added after deleting the tweet. “Oh, I’m joking. They are no longer in control of Black people. “Trump 4 life.” Apparently waking up the following day, Ye apologized to the politician and her family. It appears like Kamala is a really kind person. All I want to do is apologize to her children,” he stated.
