Rudi Garcia was named head coach of Belgium
Rudi Garcia is the new head coach of the Belgian national team, marking the end of Domenico Tedesco’s tenure.
Following weeks of seeking, the Belgian federation said the 60-year-old Frenchman, who hasn’t had a club since his brief 2023 tenure at Napoli, has arrived.
In his turbulent two years with Belgium, Tedesco—who took over for Roberto Martinez—managed 12 victories, 6 draws, and 6 defeats. His tense relationships with important players like Thibaut Courtois and his troubles with Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne were among the scandals that surrounded his reign. His dismissal on January 17 resulted from these problems as well as variable outcomes.
During his press conference introduction on Friday, Rudi Garcia discussed his plans for guiding the Red Devils into a new era.
Garcia, who is well-known for his powerful personality and tactical sense, persuaded the federation during interviews, defeating rivals like Thierry Henry. The Frenchman’s task now is to bring Belgium’s golden generation back to life and guide them toward success in the future.
