Harambee Stars’ coach is cautious about the challenging CHAN 2024 group
Francis Kimanzi, the head coach of Kenya’s national football team, is optimistic but cautious as they get ready for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is scheduled for August of this year.
The Harambee Stars were grouped with Morocco, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia in a challenging group (Group A).
Although he acknowledges the group’s toughness, Kimanzi stated that he thinks the squad would be motivated by the difficult competition.
He stated, “I’m really looking forward to a competitive fight and we have to show character,” arguing that a team must compete against elite teams if it want to be great.
Kenya has previously lost the privilege to hold major competitions, therefore hosting the CHAN 2024 is a historic event. Both the recently renovated Kasarani Stadium and Nyayo Stadium will host important games.
Nigeria, Senegal, Congo, and Sudan participate in Group D, while Uganda is in Group C. Some matches will also be held in Uganda and Tanzania, two nearby countries.
