Liverpool remains in control, but the race for the title is heating up

Liverpool is still in a strong position to win the Premier League title, but it looks like they may have to fight harder in the second half of the season to stay on top.

The winners will go to Brentford on Saturday with a four-point lead over second-placed Arsenal and one extra game to play. However, things are not going as smoothly for them lately.

They haven’t lost a league game since September when they lost to Nottingham Forest at home. They’ve gone 16 games without a defeat but have drawn four of their last seven games. They only dropped points in two of their first 13 matches.

Liverpool still seems safe because Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City struggled at the end of last year.

Arsenal’s 2-1 win at home against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, has kept their chances open.

Arsenal, who have not lost in 11 league matches, will play against seventh-place Aston Villa on Saturday. They seem like the top team to catch Liverpool, but Nottingham Forest, six points behind, are also being considered in the race.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team won six league games in a row before drawing with Liverpool. They should be able to win again this weekend when they play against last-place Southampton at the City Ground.

Newcastle United are doing well, having won six matches in a row, which puts them in fourth place. However, they are nine points behind Liverpool and have played one more game. On Saturday, Eddie Howe’s team will play against Bournemouth, who are in eighth place.

Chelsea has struggled recently, going five league matches without a win. Enzo Maresca’s team, currently in fifth place, is eager to turn things around when they play at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are fighting to avoid relegation, on Monday.

HOME OBJECTIVES

Liverpool will be careful of Brentford, who don’t worry about other teams’ names. Brentford recently scored two late goals to draw 2-2 with Manchester City. They have also scored 29 goals at home this season, more than any other team.

They have let in 21 goals as well, so Saturday’s match against Liverpool is unlikely to be a cautious one.

Arsenal’s win against Tottenham this week lifted their spirits after a tough start to the year. They had previously drawn with Brighton & Hove Albion, lost two home cup games in a row, and faced a season-ending knee injury to forward Gabriel Jesus.

But Villa, the team that is opposing Arsenal, is getting back to their best. The last time Arsenal lost a home game in the league was against Villa, coached by their former manager Unai Emery. That game ended in a 2-0 loss for Arsenal in April and hurt their chances of winning the title.

David Moyes’s return to Everton didn’t go well on Wednesday, as he started his second time as manager with a 1-0 loss at home to Villa.

Everton is just one point above the relegation zone and has only scored one goal in six league games. However, their game against a struggling Spurs team on Sunday could be an opportunity for them to improve.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham team has won only once in their last nine league matches. Instead of discussing a chance to finish in the top four, people are now worried they might face relegation if they don’t improve soon.

“The truth is that our performance and results in the league have not been good enough.” “The Australian said on Wednesday that this needs to change.”
