Crystal Palace Defender Marc Guehi’s eye-catching resigning from Chelsea

As part of their attempts to strengthen their defensive alternatives, Chelsea is apparently thinking about re-signing Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace and England. Despite being sold to Palace for £18 million in 2021, the 24-year-old has become a top target for the Blues.

Chelsea is evaluating a shortlist of defensive reinforcements, including Guehi, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders since moving to Selhurst Park. Chelsea’s recruitment office has taken notice of his Palace performances and his developing worldwide reputation.

The current Chelsea ownership, which is headed by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, made the choice to pursue Guehi. During the previous administration, they had no say in the decision to sell the center-back.

Chelsea’s interest in Guehi has increased due to their defensive injury issue. Wesley Fofana just suffered a serious hamstring injury that might keep him out of the game for the season, according to manager Enzo Maresca. Additionally, the Blues lack defense depth due to Benoit Badiashile’s absence until at least February.

Chelsea has not yet formally contacted Crystal Palace about a possible move, but according to those close to Guehi, his advisors are aware of Stamford Bridge’s interest. If Palace wants to let go of their best defender, they will probably want a high price.

Chelsea’s desire to bolster their backline with established Premier League ability is demonstrated by their interest in Guehi. More developments are expected as Chelsea considers its possibilities to bolster the team as the transfer season draws near.
