After Hamilton, Adidas takes Puma’s place as Mercedes F1 partner

Adidas, a German clothing and footwear company, said on Tuesday that it will join Formula One as a multi-year kit supplier to the Mercedes team for the new post-Lewis Hamilton era.

The once-dominant team, which finished fourth overall in seven-time world champion Hamilton’s last season before he joined Ferrari, was formerly linked with Puma.

Following the release of smuggled photos of branded clothing last year, the Adidas partnership was anticipated and had previously been brought to light in media sources.

Mercedes stated that fans will also be able to purchase the specially created uniform, with limited editions scheduled throughout the year.

The collection, which will feature clothing, accessories, and footwear, will be revealed the following month before the Australian season begins on March 16.

“Our partnership with adidas is a clear statement of intent as we begin to write our next chapter as a team,” Toto Wolff, the head of Mercedes, said in a statement.

The team has replaced Hamilton, who turned 40 on Tuesday, with 18-year-old Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli, who will be George Russell’s partner.

Last season, Mercedes also partnered with Tommy Hilfiger, a fashion company for which Hamilton served as an ambassador.

Last year, Adidas lost the proposal to supply the German national teams from 2027 to 2034 to Nike.
